Liverpool injury woes have been compounded with latest reports of James Milner picking up a hamstring problem in the Premier League draw against Brighton Albion on Saturday.
The Reds were denied the opportunity of going top on the log after Diogo Jota’s second half strike was canceled by Pascal Gross late penalty that saw the host rescue a point in the game.
The Premier League Champions have not had it easy this season as more than half of Jurgen Klopp’s first team players are out injured with Milner becoming the latest on the list.
The clash against Brighton only meant the team had played their third game in the week. And this has angered the manager who had advocated for a five substitutes rule.
Sheffield United boss, Chris Wilder had labeled Klopp ‘selfish’ for demanding a five substitute rule, claiming he was driven by self-interest.
However Klopp responded to the jibe after the draw against Brighton: “When we had a talk between the managers a week ago, most wanted five subs. Since then nothing happened. Chris Wilder or whoever says constantly than I am selfish. I think all the things he said show that he’s selfish. Three subs hasn’t worked for them so far – they’ve got one point. For example, if we have five subs today I take off Robbo to protect him and bring on Kostas Tsimikas.
He gambled with his selection against Atalanta in the Champions League to secure a victory at Falmer Stadium which did not occur as planned.
Klopp has also confirm that neither Thiago Alcantara nor Oxlade Chamberlain will be back for the upcoming fixtures against Wolves and Ajax.
