Arsenal’s midfielder, Mesut Ozil has received a loyalty bonus amounting to £8million despite not featuring for the Gunners since March this year.
The German became Arsenal’s highest earner on £350,000-a-week when he signed a new deal in January 2018 to stay at the club until the summer of 2021.
It recently emerged the deal included a huge loyalty bonus, which was part of efforts geared towards convincing him to stay at the club for the entirety of the contract.
Ozil – despite not being part of manager Mikel Arteta’s plan for Arsenal’s Europa League squad, – picked up his £8million big cheque of loyalty bonus for staying put!
Plans made by Arsenal to offload the 31-year-old has proved abortive as he has remained adamant, insisting that he will stay put at the club until his contract expires.
