The presidency says its attention has been drawn to the activities of scammers circulating phishing links on social media, urging Nigerians to apply for a 3 Million Naira FG Grant.
The scam is targetted at Nigerians looking to benefit from the Federal Government assistance to businesses affected by COVID-19.
It is worthwhile to note that the circulation of phishing links comes on the heels of the Federal Government’s launching of an application portal for N75b youth investment fund.
Reacting that the ugly trend, the presidency issued a statement warning that the “phishing links are generated by Scammers and intended to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.”
The statement further warned that the government will only request for applications via its official channels & websites.
Similarly, the Ministry of Finance has warned Nigerians about the activities of the same set of scammers.
A statement issued by the ministry via its Twitter handle reads: “It has come to our attention that a link is being shared via social media requesting for applications for a FG 3 Million grant.
“The general public should note that this is a SCAM. Any requests for applications are only via official channels & websites. Pls beware! #FinMinNigeria”.
