Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich has surrendered control of the club to its foundation following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The 57-year-old billionaire has been under scrutiny over alleged ties with Russia President Vladimir Putin, who happens to be the most dreaded man currently on the planet.
Abramovich remains owner of Chelsea, but will not be involved in the long-strategic running of the club any more, with that now falling to the Chelsea Foundation, Skysports reports.
Amid the sudden twist of event at the club, Chelsea prepare for their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.
The European champions will hope to add to their trophy collection this season following their recent triumph at the Club World Cup.
Abramovich believes Chelsea Foundation are best placed to oversee the running of the club while his long-term project at the club remains secure.
With over 1000 games under his 17 years ownership, Abramovich has won 21 titles including two champions league and Europa league wins each.
