Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz had sparked a melee with his match-winning goal celebration in front of Boca Juniors fans, which started witnessed red cards rain.

Racing Club were later crowned champions of Argentina’s Champions Trophy after they defeated Boca Juniors 2-1 in extra time, but referee Facundo Tello was the highlight of the show.

According to reports, the game exploded to life in the fifth minute of stoppage time with Sebastian Villa of Boca and Johan Carbonero of Racing both seeing red.

The home side had another six players sent off in the ensuing extra time period, after Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz sparked a melee in front of the Boca Juniors fans with his match winning goal.

Luis Advincula, Carlos Zambrano, Diego Gonzalez and Dario Benedetto were all shown straight reds by World Cup bound referee Facundo Tello, while two additional players left the field having received a second yellow.

Racing Club also had two extra players sent off on straight reds as match winner, Carlos Alcaraz and Catriel Cabellos were both given their marching orders before the end of the game.

Boca Juniors suffered a shock defeat in the Argentina Cup final to rivals Racing Club, with the game witnessing a spectacle of red cards, according to Daily Mail.

Norberto Briasco’s 19th-minute opener for Boca was cancelled out by Racing club’s Matias Rojas three minutes later. Neither side could find a winner in 90 minutes, prompting a lengthy period of extra time.

Carlos Alcaraz grabbed the winner for Racing Club however, with a glancing header just five minutes from the end of the game to hand Racing the title.

Earlier, Sports Bible had reported that one person died following violence that started outside a soccer match on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, before spilling into the stadium and onto the pitch.
