According to Ukrainian officials, night time airstrikes by Russian forces struck a maternity unit at a hospital in southern Ukraine, killing a newborn and injuring the mother.
Authorities in the city of Vilniansk in the Zaporizhzhia region claimed the missile demolished the two-story structure.
The mother of the infant and a doctor were rescued from the wreckage, according to the state emergency agency.
According to a Telegram post by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia “continues to fight against civilians and civilian objects.”
“The enemy has made the decision to attempt what he was unable to accomplish for nine months and will not be able to accomplish again through terror and murder. He will alone be held accountable for the harm he caused to our nation, “added Zelenskyy.
