Meta has unveiled an innovative addition to WhatsApp’s functionality—a screen sharing feature for video calls.
The feature is designed to foster cross-platform convenience, enabling individuals to provide a live display of their screens to one or multiple participants in the call.
According to WhatsApp’s official statement, “the feature opens up a range of possibilities, whether it’s collaborating on work documents, sharing family photos, planning vacations, shopping online with pals, or even offering tech assistance to grandparents.
“The ability to share a dynamic view of one’s screen is at the core of this upgrade.”
To access this feature, users must ensure they have the latest WhatsApp version installed.
During a video call, a newly introduced ‘Share’ icon will appear at the base of the screen.
A simple tap on this icon will prompt users to grant screen sharing authorization. Once authorized, the user’s screen content will be instantly projected to the other party.
It is worth noting that the rollout of this feature is taking place in a gradual manner.
While some individuals might already have encountered it within their WhatsApp interface, others may have to exercise a bit of patience as it makes its way to their devices.
This innovative addition to WhatsApp’s capabilities extends its utility to video group calls as well.
It also offers support for landscape mode during video calls, enhancing the visual experience and broadening the scope for sharing screens, especially from desktop platforms.
