Kenyan First Lady Rachael Ruto has encouraged women to participate in empowerment groups as a means to collectively raise investment capital.
She emphasized that women’s engagement in income-generating activities will enhance household earnings, thereby playing a pivotal role in the fight against poverty.
According to the First Lady, women must begin to take advantage of the financial resources allocated by the government and financial institutions specifically designated to assist female entrepreneurs.
“I want to encourage women to invest in small enterprises that will generate income for their families,” she said.
Racheal noted this on Friday during a meeting with women groups at Deliverance Church Mikindani in Mombasa, Mombasa county.
Also, Gender Culture, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet Secretary, Aisha Jumwa said President William Ruto has offered numerous opportunities for women to get funding.
“We have leaders and a president who cares about the welfare of women,” she said.
She lauded the First Lady’s role in empowering women through the Joyful Women organization and MaMa Doing Good.
“Let us continue supporting Mama Rachel for her commitment to empowering women,” she said.
Furthermore, Mombasa County MP Zamzam Mohammed (ODM) asked leaders to set aside political differences and work together for the benefit of the people.
“We will fully support the current government to implement projects and programmes that will transform the lives of the people,” she said.
However, Mohammed added that the empowerment of women amounts to the society.
“I encourage you (First Lady) to continue empowering women, we appreciate your efforts,” she said.
