AC Milan on Monday sacked coach Paulo Fonseca and appointed Sérgio Conceição as his replacement.
Both coaches are of Portuguese origin.
This was disclosed by the Serie A club in a statement.
Part of the statement reads, “AC Milan announces that Sérgio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceição has been appointed as the Head Coach of the men’s first team until 30 June 2026.”
Conceição takes over a Milan side that currently lies eighth in Serie A, eight points off the Champions League places.
Fonseca’s removal followed the club’s 1-1 draw, the sixth of the season, which left them in seventh spot, eight points behind Lazio in the fourth and final Champions League place.
Milan are also a massive 12 points adrift of city rivals Inter, who are challenging for the title.
“AC Milan announces that Paulo Fonseca has been relieved from his duties as Head Coach of the men’s first team,” an earlier statement from the club on Monday read.
Atalanta currently sit at the top of the Serie A table.
