The 2025 edition of the African Women’s Club Volleyball Championship will kick off on Tuesday, 1 April 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The competition, hosted by the Nigeria Customs Service, is scheduled to take place from 1 to 14 April 2025.
With various clubs from across Africa expected to arrive later on Tuesday, teams from Egypt and Botswana are already on the ground intensifying their preparations.
While Egypt are the defending champions, Botswana’s club is making its debut.
Ahead of the matches at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CGC Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has expressed confidence that one of Nigeria’s representatives, the Customs team, will emerge victorious.
Speaking to Heritage Times HT, CGC Adeniyi said the team earned its place in the competition following their triumph at the 2024 CGC Volleyball Premier League.
The Customs boss said, “As the defending champions of the CGC Volleyball Premier League, the NCS team has earned its place in this prestigious continental competition.
“We are trying to put our team in good condition. They just returned from a training tour, which served as tune-up matches. The team performed excellently, winning all their matches.
“I want to believe we are ready. Nigeria is hosting to win.”
The CGC assured that all necessary support and motivation are being provided to the team.
