Nigeria wrestling star and African champion Esther Kolawole (62kg) has beaten Haylie Jaffe of USA 10-0 superiority to lift gold at Spanish Grand Prix.
The highly spirited wrestler came into the encounter with confidence after a convincing 10-0 superiority over Lydia Perez Tourino of Spain in the quarter-final and a 4-1 victory against Polish Alicja Nowosad in the semi-final.
This victory adds to Kolawole’s growing reputation as one of Africa’s top female wrestlers, and a rising force on the global stage.
She had competed at the 2024 Olympics but couldn’t get to the podium position.
After the sweeping victory in Spain, Kolawole turns attention to the Ranking Series in Budapest, Hungary, which runs from July 14 to 19, 2025, in preparation for the World Wrestling Championship in Croatia later this year.
