Less than 24 hours after they reached the semi-final stage of the ongoing Women Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Wednesday visited injured South African player, Gabriela De Jesus Thomas Salgado, in hospital in Casablanca, Morocco.
The visit was after the footballer suffered a horrific leg injury during the tension-soaked semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa at Larbi Zaouli Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Salgado, who was seriously hurt in a goalmouth melee in the South African box 18 in the second half of the fierce contest, which Nigeria won 2-1.
Heritage Times HT reports that among the Nigerian players who visited the injured player were the Nigerian team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie, forward Ifeoma Onumonu, and defender Ashleigh Plumptre.
Later, in a trending picture, a visibly happy Salgado, who plays for JVW FC in South Africa, was handed an autographed Nigeria team jersey as a token of friendship by her visitors.
She was seen appreciating the Nigerian gesture via a thumbs up.
Nigeria will on Saturday face host nation Morocco in a final encounter at Rabat.
Before then, Ghana and South Africa will face off in a third best match on Friday at the same venue.
