Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has named two countries he wants his team to avoid when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announces the draw for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
The German tactician said he hopes his team avoids Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire, noting that that none of the six seeded teams would wish to have either of both countries.
Nigeria is one of the six seeded teams, including hosts Cameroon, defending champions Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia and Morocco.
The AFCON draw has been scheduled for the Yaounde Conference Centre in Cameroon at 18h00 GMT today.
“I have had good conversations also with my colleagues.
“Every one of the top 6 wants to avoid Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire.
“But we will accept and respect all the teams,” Rohr told NationSport.
The AFCON 2022 is expected to start on January 9 till February 6, with five host cities confirmed for the biennial competition.
