Nigeria will launch investigation into the killing of its national studying in Philippines by a group of Chinese, Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has announced.
An X user, formerly known as Twitter @michaelojuola had on Sunday wrote on his handle that the deceased, simply identified as Ikem, was tied in his hands, and his mouth covered while he was beaten to death.
The user then called on NiDCOM and other necessary bodies to intervene.
In response, the NIDCOM said it will investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Ikem in Philippines.
”The attention of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has been drawn to a viral social media news item on the death of a Nigerian student, identified as Ikem, who was allegedly murdered by a group of Chinese in the Republic of Philippines.
“Though the matter had not been officially reported to the Nigerian embassy in the Phillipines, NIDCOM has asked the “ eyewitness “ who posted the gory incident on his social media handle to provide more details to the Commission’s e-mail —[email protected].
“The Commission will set the machinery in motion to investigate the matter and unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident,” NiDCOM wrote on X.
