French side Nantes sacked their head coach Christian Gourcuff on Tuesday, owing to a cumulated run of poor form.
The Atlantic coast club revealed this in the wake of an embarrassing 4 – 0 defeat to struggling Strasbourg at the weekend.
Gourcuff led Nantes to 12th position last season in the French Ligue and in this campaign, they are currently placed 14th on 13 points, just three clear of the relegation zone.
The 65-year-old has had stints with Rennes, Lorient and the Algerian national team before taking charge of Nantes.
However, L’Équipe report that Nantes President Waldemar Kita has identified Laurent Blanc and Patrick Vieira who was given the boot by OGC Nice barely 48 hours ago as his top targets to replace manager Christian Gourcuff.
