The President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan on Monday joined the 2023 Presidential race under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Heritage Times gathered that a group of friends led by Chief Sam Nkire, a member of the National Caucus of APC and 15 other Senators, obtained the APC Presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the Senate President at the International Conference Centre (ICC) venue of the sale of forms to APC aspirants.
This makes the Senate President the 24th aspirant to pick the APC’s expression of interest and nomination forms.
The Senate President has not publicly signaled his intention to run for President.
Notwithstanding, he looks set to compete for the nation highest public office against Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Governors Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Mohammed Badaru (Jigawa) at least five ministers, among others for the APC presidential ticket.
APC had scheduled its primary election for May 30.
