A top Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Lobi Stars, have denied rumours linking them with a possible move for Portuguese skipper Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to the club via their twitter handle, they are not eager to engage the Portugal international, despite recent speculation surrounding him.
“Pls be informed that #WeAreLobi is yet to make any contact with representatives of #CristianoRonaldo following his release from @ManUtd,” the club wrote via Facebook.
“We wish him the best & #LobiStars will make no further comment on this,” the club wrote.
Ronaldo became an item of interest since he parted ways with the Red Devils earlier this week.
The former Real Madrid forward had been in the news for wrong reasons after having an explosive interview with Piers Morgan where he spoke against the club and some legends.
With the former Ballon d’Or now without a club, he has since been linked to many clubs across the globe including a 14th tier English football league club AFC Crewe and also the Lobi Stars, currently playing in the top flight division of Nigeria league system.
The 37-year-old is now officially a free agent, having had his contract at Manchester United terminated, and he will join a new club after representing his country at the 2022 World Cup.
Newcastle United, Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea have been linked with the forward, who has given up in the region of £16m in wages by leaving Man United before his deal expired next summer.
