With barely 24 hours before second leg of the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against the Super Eagles B of Nigeria, Ghana’s Black Galaxies have arrived Abuja.
The match will be played inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Saturday September 3, 2022.
The first leg took place last Saturday August 27 at the Cape Coast stadium, which Ghana won 2-0.
Both teams are seeking a return to the biggest competition for domestic players on the Africa continent with Nigeria missing the last edition and Ghana missing the last three.
Ahead of the encounter, Head Coach of the Nigerian men’s team, Salisu Yusuf, said the team has moved on from the 0-2 loss in Cape Coast with renewed determination to qualify for the 7th African Nations Championship Algeria 2023.
Salisu, who led the Class of 2018 to a second-place finish in the final tournament in Morocco told Heritage Times HT in an interview that the team’s concentration is how to score enough goals to overturn the deficit incurred in the away leg.
“What is past is past and that is the case with the match we played in Ghana. Now we are looking forward to a good match on Saturday.
“We are doing all we need to do to achieve our utmost desire to be in Algeria next year. There may have been one or two lapses that caught us on the bad end in Cape Coast but we can’t continue to dwell on that. We want to achieve a good result on Saturday,” he said.
He said he might tinker with the lineup that lost the first leg.
The winner on aggregate will qualify for Algeria 2023.
