Manchester United stretched their unbeaten run to nine games after a Marcus Rashford’s late minute strike handed the Red Devils all three points against Wolves on Tuesday.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and his men had to put behind them a disappointing start to the season and an early exit in the Champions League to become title contenders.
The Red Devils are currently second on the log, two points adrift leaders Liverpool, who are gunning for a second straight domestic title.
However, Solskjaer believes that talks about Man Utd challenging for a title this season should be parried away for now.
“There’s no title race after 15 games,” Solskjaer said. “You can lose the chance of being in a race in the first 10 games. But play another 15, get to 30, and then maybe we can start talking about a title race.”
“But the belief is there. We go into every game thinking we can win against anyone anywhere. Away we’ve shown what we’re capable of, we are improving at home as well and this result is massive for confidence and attitude.”
The Norwegian tactician’s future came under serious scrutiny and a sack was imminent in early November following back-to-back defeats against Arsenal and Istanul Basaksehir. But, a little faith in Solksjaer has proven well as it looks like the team are beginning to find their rhythm.
Solkjaer’s men advanced to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup after defeating high-flying Everton 2 – 0 to set up a clash with their City rivals.
Owing to their recent rise, attentions are slowly shifting towards the direction of the Old Trafford giants as the club is already reaping from the faith it had entrusted in the Norwegian to transform the side into title contenders.
