Moroccan international and Paris Saint-Germain full-back, Achraf Hakimi, has been crowned the 2025 African Men’s Player of the Year, capping off a stellar season with both club and country.
Hakimi beat Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to the top prize after a standout campaign in which he played a key role in PSG’s multiple title wins, including their memorable Champions League triumph.
His victory was announced on Wednesday night at a colourful ceremony in Rabat, Morocco.
CAF had earlier released a nomination list featuring Africa’s top performers between January 6 and October 15, 2025, highlighting players who made remarkable contributions to their clubs and national teams.
According to the continental body, this year’s winners were selected by a panel made up of members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee, seasoned coaches, CAF legends, and media professionals. The committee assessed performances across all competitions before narrowing the field to 10 nominees in each category.
The awards also celebrated achievements across the women’s game, coaching, and national team categories, reinforcing CAF’s commitment to recognising excellence throughout African football.
