The United Kingdom Trade Envoy to Nigeria, Helen Grant has described Nigeria’s economy as the fastest in Africa.
Ms. Grant made the description while speaking during a two-day Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) organised by the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), in collaboration with the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI).
The Heritage Times had on Saturday reported how Nigeria slipped into its second economic recession in five years, also its worst economic decline in four decades.
However, the UK official appeared optimistic of the nation’s prospects.
The UK envoy who observed that Nigeria was full of investment opportunities and potentials, added that her government was ready to educate, and learn from Nigeria by enhancing the bilateral trade between both countries.
“We look forward to coming to Nigeria to identify with viable businesses that the UK government could partner with Nigeria in generating real and long term benefits for both countries,” she said.
She also noted that the UK and Nigeria had so much that unites them, especially in the areas of culture and language, stressing the need to build on such existing relations to bring about economic growth.
