For securing qualification ahead of the 2023 U23 African Cup of Nations, the government has rewarded Zambia players with $10,000 each.
The reward package is different from the normal bonus each of them had received for representing the country.
The Zambian team basically made up talented young lads few days ago whipped Ivory Coast 3-0 pick much coveted ticket to U23 AFCON.
The last time the team made it to the tournament which will determine four nations that will eventually be at 2024 Paris Olympics, was in 2015.
That was after they won it 2012.
Dashed Cameroon Hope
Meanwhile, the Cameroon’s hope of taking part in this year’s competition has finally been crashed, after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) ruled in favour of Gabon.
Cameroon lost out to Gabon in the final round of the qualifier but had protested CAF on Gabon using a player called Gave for double personality.
CAF initially ruled in favour of Cameroon but Gabon approached the appeal and got their ticket back.
The tournament is scheduled to start in Morocco in few days time, with four semi-finalists expected to represent the continent in the Olympic Games.
