Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa has assured Nigerians that the team will qualify for the AFCON tournament in 2021 despite a disappointing game against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin, Edo state yesterday.
Gernot Rohr’s men were four goals up in the 29th minutes of the encounter before the Sierra Leoneans staged a comeback in the second half to draw the Eagles level.
“We made a very big mistake in the game, Musa said while apologizing to Nigerians. “But there is nothing we can do because its football. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose but we are ready to correct the mistakes in the next game.
“We will give all our best to see that we qualify for the AFCON,” the former Leicester city forward added.
The Super Eagles leads group L with seven points, four points clear of second placed Benin Republic who have an outstanding game against Lesotho.
Nigeria will travel to Freetown for the second leg on November 17.
