Lionel Messi has been dropped from the Barcelona squad to face Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv in Tuesday’s Champions League fixture.
Messi featured in the entire duration as La Blaugrana’s 1-0 loss to La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The 33-year-old was overlooked by Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman for the trip to Kiev but did not state his reasons afterwards, according to Goal.
The inspirational skipper played with discomfort during the La Liga game against Atlectico Madrid.
Barcelona have a 100 per cent record in the Champions winning all of their three opening matches including the 2-0 victory over Juventus.
However, their form on the domestic scene is nothing to write home about, recording three wins and two draws in eight matches but have two outstanding matches to play.
Koeman’s side have also lost to Deportivo Alaves and eternal rival Real Madrid in the El Clasico as they occupy 12th position on the log.
