Nigeria’s representatives at the ongoing World School Basketball Championship will move on in Belgrade, Serbia as both its boys and girls teams go to action later on Monday September 26, 2022.
The boys team will face their counterparts from Greece in the classification for 5th to 8th position after missing the top four spot when they lost to Brazil in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Both teams went neck to neck in the opening quarter of the match which ended 12-11, but Brazil pulled away in the second quarters, winning it 22-12 and dominated the third 30-8.
The fourth quarter was closely contested but Brazil won it by 2 points, 18-16 to close the tie 72-49.
The girls team gave a good account of themselves in their first qualification match against hosts, Serbia.
The coach Tony Nelson tutored side has won three matches and lost one and they will hope to maintain their winning streak against Ireland in the classification for 9th to 12th position.
Nigeria is represented at the International School Sport Federation organized World Schools Basketball Championship by the 2022 Milo National Secondary School Championship winners, Bishop Dimieari Grammar School and St Jude’s Girls Secondary School, Bayelsa State, South-South Nigeria.
