Bologna Coach, Sinisa Mihajlovic has stated that Victor Osimhen was lucky not to be sent off in Napoli’s 3-0 win over his side on Thursday night at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
The Nigerian international did not score, but had a major impact in the game, contributing to all three goals, as Napoli bounced back to winning ways after Sunday’s goalless draw against Roma.
However, Mihajlovic believes the Nigerian could have been sent off for a dangerous challenge before Fabian Ruiz put Napoli ahead.
Osimhen had unknowingly hit a Bologna defender in the box with his elbow. The match official, Marco Serra did not see it as a major offence, but Mihajlovic believes players have been sent off for a similar situation in the past.
“I remember [Roberto] Soriano’s sending off for an elbow Today at 1-0, I saw an elbow from [Victor] Osimhen, and no one said anything.
“Let’s continue. The lads tried to do what we had prepared, the first goal we conceded when we played out from the back,” the former Inter Milan man said after the match as per Football Italia.
Osimhen had already been sent off once in the league this season. The former Lille man was red carded 23 minutes into Napoli’s opener against Venezia for shoving Daan Heymans.
